About to close up my sophomore year. The days continue to fly passed and with the weather warming up everyone has only one thing on their minds, summer vacation. Everyone seems to have a lack of motivation due to the weather, gonna have to do my best to finish off strong. Here's some studies and other things in the works right now.




This is a rough sketch of a painting I'm working on right now for my illustration class. I'm doing it with acrlyic and oil on a gessoed piece of wood. about 16x20 i believe. I'm pretty excited about this one, we have 3 weeks to work on it so I have plenty of time to really work on it. I'll post progress shots of it once I really get going on it. Just laying in some local color as of right now.


Just a few studies from my illustration class. After talking with Erik about my paintings he told me what I need to work on and has been helping me in class to really come up with more complete paintings( the top one is my most recent and the bottom one was just one class period)



Here is my "finished" self portrait. Not completely worked out but I have experienced an extreme lack of interest with this piece and really have no desire to continue working on it. Too much self portraits all at once.

New Sketchbook!

Picked up a new sketchbook not too long ago. Nice little knock off of a moleskin the school store sells. It's got a great tooth to it which I really enjoy. So a bit stressed out right now, I have to restart my painting for eric's but he helped me out this morning. I'm gonna get that going again tonight and try and come up with something nice for him.

So ready for summer.

3000th Self Portrait

It's been awhile since I've updated so I figured I'd get around to that now that its 3am and I'm avoiding going to sleep. I just finished my first Bukowski book (Ham On Rye) and I finally understand why everyone raves about him. I've begun reading another by him (Post Office) and only 40 pages into it and I'm already in love.

Also recently fell in love with a band Maps and Atlases. Really some wild musicians, reminds me a lot of modest mouse. Speaking of music, Converge april 4th srsly.

I've been pretty busy doing all kinds of paintings for eric and nancy. Nancy has been out for the passed 3 weeks due to pnemonia though, and she won't be back for another 2 weeks at the least. Hopfully she will be feeling better soon. Life's been real stressful the passed few weeks, heres hoping next week will be better.



Here's an in class painting from my illustration class. Wasn't able to finish it but I'm still relatively happy with the outcome.





And here is yet another self portrait. This one for my Illustration class. Not quite finished yet but here's where I'm at so far. 16x20 acrylic on canvas. Should crank this out soon I've just been having a real difficult time making myself do another self portrait after just doing 4 for other classes.

Fine Art Painting

Here is the first painting I've decided to post from my fine arts class. I haven't had too much success in that class, it's a very different atmosphere than illustration. This is the last painting I did, I'm somewhat satisfied with it, some stuff i feel could have been done better if I had one more class period. It's oil on canvas 24x30. Even though I haven't had much success just yet I still feel I've learned a huge amount in that class, especially about color. I'm more than excited to start the next homework assignment for this class, the only restrictions are that it has to be a narrative. Easy enough thats all illustration students do so me and the other illustration students are all doing stuff very stylized which will probably drive nancy nuts hahha.

New Study/ Self Portraits Galore!

I'm all about the new garage studio we set up. we have a space heater and a cd player all set up in there. the only thing I wish we had was some old rug to cover up all the different leaks from cars all over the floor and maybe an old couch haha.

Here is another study from my illustration 2 class. acrylic on illustration board. Done in napthol crimson, cad yellow, ultramarine blue, titanium white, mars black and burnt sienna



Here is a charcoal study of a self portrait I am starting in my Illustration 2 class. This was done on arches charcoal paper. Struggled a bit with it cause of all the tooth on the paper. The painting will be done on illustration board in acrylic. I'll post that as soon as I finish it.
